Case Study: Cleaning Up for Home Inspections
The Client
Comfort Home Inspections, Inc. is a pre-purchase home inspection company operating in Minnesota and Nevada. Their inspections include everything from the structure and foundation of a house to the plumbing and electrical inside of it.
The Problem
Comfort Home Inspections had a brochure that they would give to realtors, potential homebuyers, and current homeowner customers to pass along to a friend or two after their inspection.
This brochure wasn’t a poorly made marketing piece by any means. It was a full-color, bi-folded piece on 100-pound glossy paper with images and content on every page.
Still, there were areas for improvement in the design, content, and overall branding:
- The brochure had two contrasting shades of blue between their logo and throughout the piece.
- It had conflicting (although not incorrect) contact information on the front and back.
- The file size of the logo was too small, resulting in a slightly blurry image.
- It didn’t have enough information to fully explain their offerings.
With this brochure, a customer may get a general idea of what Comfort Home Inspections offered but would need to take a few extra steps in order to learn more, which can deter a lot of customers.
We had also recently redesigned their website, and this was a chance to match the colors, typefaces and images from the new website to their printed marketing materials.
Our Solution
We first chose to stick with the same 8.5×11 bi-fold on 100-pound paper as it is very simple to read through and feels good in your hands.
Next, we chose which content to add. We wanted to list their three major selling points, a summary of the inspection checklist, a testimonial and their 4.8/5 rating from HomeAdvisor.
Finally, we designed the piece to match the website’s strong blue #00548b and grays #918e8b and #dddcdb, as well as typefaces Oswald, Open Sans, and Rock Salt Regular.
The Results
Comfort Home Inspections now has branded brochure that has consistent contact information and gives a clear overview of what they do and what sets them apart.
It should now be easier for a homebuyer to read this brochure and know why they should choose Comfort Home Inspections over a competitor.
